Compact, lightweight and with environmental protection, EOS 5D successor boasts a newly designed Canon CMOS sensor, with ISO sensitivity up to 25,600 for shooting in near dark conditions. The new DIGIC 4 processor combines with the improved CMOS sensor to deliver medium format territory image quality at 3.9 frames per second, for up to 310 frames.
Triggered from Live View Mode, HD video capture allows users to shoot uninterrupted at full 1080 resolution at 30fps - for amazing quality footage with outstanding levels of detail and realism.
The integration of HD movie capability into a high-end 21.1 Megapixel camera opens a multitude of new possibilities for photojournalists and news photographers. With its full frame CMOS sensor and outstanding ISO performance, the EOS 5D Mark II will appeal to any photographer in search of the finest camera equipment available – from studio and wedding to nature and travel photographers.
Other improvements to the EOS 5D include:
“Professional photojournalists and wedding photographers already choose the EOS 5D for its discrete size and outstanding image quality,” said Mogens Jensen, head of Canon Consumer Imaging. “The addition of HD movie recording opens a new chapter for EOS. It creates new possibilities for EOS photographers to capture and share their stories and to stay relevant in a rapidly changing digital landscape.”

I having been wanting to upgrade my Canon 50D up to the 5D Mark II for over a year. I just couldn't justify the cost. When Canon bought out the 5D Mark III I really didn't know whether I should wait until I could afford the 5D Mark III or take advantage of the discounts being offered on the Mark II. In the end I just couldn't justify paying $3800 and purchased the 5D Mark II. I am so glad I did. It is a fantastic camera and one of the main advantages for me is that controls are placed much the same positions as the 50D so I have had no problems learning to use my new camera. It's a great camera and I am sure it will suit my photography goals for the coming years.

Booked my holiday, bought the camera, set up for full moon shots, looked through lens and was horrified to see internal parts of camera hanging across the lens. Packed up, went back to campsite, drank a lot!!!
Ted's was great. One phone call and a long drive but they replaced the 5Dii straight away. Very happy with Ted's, very unhappy with canon as i have looked at forum and found this is a common problem with 5Dii that canon wont acknowlege.

I am so happy that Canon has decided to continue this line. I saw no reason to buy the Mark III when this camera fulfils all my needs at half the price. Resolution quality is excellent even at high ISO settings. The only thing that I am disappointed in is the continuous shooting. I had the 40D with 8 frames/sec before this and the slower speed is frustrating.

After owning a 500D for 12 months the 5D was like stepping into a new car from an old one. This camera is so easy to use, easy to find things in the menu and the images are outstanding. I have a couple of L series lenses and when I brought the two together it was like a match made in heaven. The optical quality is outstanding and the camera is very responsive. This camera is a dream come true.

Nice solid build, Lasts longer, user friendly & great value for money - pity it's only a camera & not a husband ;)
I have only recently upgraded from the Canon EOS 40d to the 5D2 with Canon 24-105L.
The first time I got to use it was for a recent wedding, and I couldn't wait to get home to start editing the images and see for myself the difference in quality of the images.
I am so far blown away.
This camera paired with the 24-105L lens produces perfect clarity and the most gorgeous bokeh I have ever been able to capture.
I had previously heard a few bad reviews in regards to the auto focusing, but I have not had any issues with this as yet.
Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase.
Also, the staff at Teds, at Eastland Ringwood were fantastic and friendly.

I have had my camera for about 1 month and have used it often. The first photo I took was in low light conditions and the result was amazing with very little noise. In other photos I have taken the colours have been wonderful. The blues and yellows are really true to life and I don't need to grab a filter for every landscape shot taken in the middle of the day. Because I had a Canon 50D previously I am finding the 5D easy to use as the buttons etc are much the same on each camera. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Prior to using this, I used a Canon EOS 7D, so making the switch to another high-end camera wasn't too hard. most of the buttons, switches and dials are in very similar places meaning that I instinctively knew what to press, and when.
The full frame capability is amazing, images at ISO 25600 are incredibly usable for emails and posters, and even better than a crop sensor at ISO 12800, meaning that with a wide aperture lens such as f/1.4, a relatively fast shutter speed can be used in low lighting environments, and still be able to be used later on.
Although the drop from 19 autofocus points to 9 is dramatic, it's obvious that the 5D Mk II was not designed with sport in mind, and the continuous burst rate of 3.9 fps (5D Mk II) versus the 8 fps for the 7D back this up also.
The HD movie function is easy to use, and although less video features than the 7D, still produces amazing movies. This camera makes portrait shooting wonderful, landscapes even so.
Ultimately, this camera, in the right hands, is able to produce stunning images, and when paired with the right lens will offer incredible pictures that will amaze anyone. This camera is not very well suited for the beginner, but for those willing to throw themselves into the deep end, it's always open. This camera is more suited for advanced amateur photographers, who want just that little bit more from their photography and have already familiarised themselves with the Canon EOS range, and who know how to make full use of this camera.

Moving up to a full frame sensor for the first time has been a great experience. The extra features compared to our old Canon SLR and better battery life is nothing compared to the improvement in the image quality and flexibility of this camera. Looking forward to seeing the images I obtain from testing this cameras capabilities further.

This is a great camera for the pro or hobbyist alike. The range of the ISO plus the 35mm sensor allow for great photos in a range of lighting conditions. I was amazed how well the camera performed in low light situations (even without the external flash).
The downsides with any DSLR is that it can start to feel a little heavy after a while but when you see the end results, it is definitely worth it.

From a simple snap shooter to as detailed a manual shooter as you want, this camera covers all bases. It is complicated to understand at first if you are not used to a modern DSLR, but once the "basics" become second nature it is as easy to use as my old Canon G2. It did a wonderful job on a recent night shoot along the Yarra River near Melbourne giving me superb images.

This is my first full frame SLR and so far have been extremely happy. Great image quality when paired with good quality lenses.
Too complicated method to put it into video mode and it would be nice to have a faster frame shooting rate.

I cannot fault the build quality of this camera. I find the features very easy to use and the layout of the menu system extremely user friendly. When paired with the L series lenses I have been able to produce photographs of better quality over a wider range of conditions. Whilst I am only an enthusiastic amateur I am glad I spent a little more money to buy this camera as I believe it provides me with the tools I need as my experience and knowledge grows.

The Canon 5dmkii is a camera that provides superb focus and definition with ease of use. While it is not a point and shot it can be used that way. One of the greatest features is the three customisable settings C1-C3 which can be configured for three types of shooting, e.g. landscape, macro, portrait. Moreover it provides for video of a high standard if you want that as well. All in all a hard to beat camera.

I simply love the 5D mark II, It's a capable and versatile camera, that is equally at home for High Res shooting of stills and amazing video work. I use this with some of Canon
s finest lenses including the 17mm tilt shift and prime 85mm L series. The results are super sharp images with great colour and clarity.
