What's more, when attached to a DX-format SLR, this f/1.4 lens with 75mm equivalent picture angle is capable of shooting portraits with beautiful blur effects.

Best 50mm lens

This is the best 50mm prime lens Nikon do and probably the best lens out there with the exception of the Sigma for image quality, but in terms of weight and compactness it can't be beaten. It's perfect for low light situations with excellent bokeh for portraits. The go to lens for everyday street photography and an ideal travel lens when weight is an issue.

Perfect prime lens for beginners/enthusiasts

Definitely worth the price. Quality build and quality photos. Being a prime lense it teaches you to 'zoom' with your feet and think about composition. Nice weight, not too heavy or too light. Fits in hand nicely, not too bulky to carry. Matched to my D7100 it does a great job in bringing clear crisp shots with incredible bokeh at larger apertures. Shows great depth of field. My friend also purchased one matched to his D800 which also takes great shots. Great lense to learn DSLR photgraphy on. Autofocus is sharp and quick. Manual focus works well but a steady hand is required. Would definitely recommend.

I love this lens I used it with both my D3100 and D7000 it is a low light champ I'm very happy with this lens it is great for portrait photography and indoor use.
