Ted's - Canon Speedlite Evening

19 August 2015 10:27:53 AM AEST

On Wednesday night the 12th of August Canon Australia hosted a speedlite workshop at the Ted’s Melbourne store. Invites were sent out to Club Ted members and the response was so overwhelming that we had to close the event the day after the invites went out. 44 customers plus Ted’s and Canon staff attended the 2 hour workshop which focused on building light from a single on camera flash to a complete 6 flash system. The theory of light was covered and then it was on to the lighting workshop where Canon Collective team member Jay Collier showed how light can be controlled to get the desired effect whether that be dramatic lighting or soft lighting.

Jay is a great photographer in his own right and specialises in wildlife photography (At the time of the writing of this article Jay was in Africa shooting on safari) but has a strong understanding of all aspects of photography and lighting.

The Canon system was highlighted due to its versatile wireless radio transmission system and its light weight and easy portability but the workshop was aimed at all photographers looking to improve their studio photography. Aspects of studio lighting that were covered included backdrops, reflectors and softboxes.

A great time was had by all and we are looking at doing another event at Ted's Doncaster later this year.
