The lens has two independent tilt and shift mechanisms, each with a range of ±8.5°. The tilt mechanism can be used to control the plane of focus, while the shift mechanism can be used to control the position of the subject in the frame. Both the tilt and shift mechanisms can be rotated ±90°, which gives the photographer a great deal of flexibility in how they use them.
