The Tamron 50-300mm F4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD is a versatile telephoto zoom lens for Sony FE mount cameras, offering a uniquely wide 50mm starting focal length that sets it apart from conventional 70-300mm designs. Despite its impressive zoom range, it achieves a class-leading compact form with a length of just 150mm and a weight of 665g, making it exceptionally portable. The optical construction features 19 elements in 14 groups, including two XLD and two LD lens elements, with BBAR-G2 coating to control aberrations and suppress ghosting and flare for outstanding clarity and contrast across the entire zoom range. At the 50mm end, the lens delivers a minimum object distance of 0.22m and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2, enabling impressive half-macro close-up shooting.

The VXD linear motor focus mechanism provides fast, quiet, and precise autofocus, while the VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization system ensures sharp results in a wide range of shooting conditions. The lens shares a 67mm filter thread common across many Tamron mirrorless lenses, adding convenience when switching between multiple lenses. Additional features include Moisture-Resistant Construction, Fluorine Coating on the front element, and a connector port compatible with Tamron Lens Utility software for in-field customisation. The lens pairs particularly well with APS-C Sony bodies, offering excellent balance and handling for everyday and travel photography alike.
