In a move that many experienced photographers would not have thought possible, this lens allows you to utilise this mammoth sports and wildlife-ready zoom handheld, thanks to its lightweight qualities, and its built-in Optical Stabiliser. For further stability, the lens can easily be mounted to a tripod with the included collar, while removing the collar enhances the lens‚Äô portability. Optically, Sigma has done its very best to counteract the various issues that can arise with lenses of this range, while its dust and splash-proof mount, and protective coating prove they have taken the build quality serious with this lens too.

At one time photographers would have scoffed at the idea of a telephoto zoom lens of this range being classed as compact, but that is exactly what Sigma have achieved with the 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS contemporary lens. The huge zoom range is suitable for various long-ranging applications, but it must be said that most people who will be immediately drawn to it are practising in the Sports and Wildlife fields. To make the range easier to manage, a zoom lock feature has been included on the lens barrel, allowing the user to lock the zoom at one of 8 predetermined focal lengths.

A relatively lightweight and compact lens, this Sigma 150-600mm C will warrant being shot handheld for some of its shooting, which is why the inclusion of an Optical Stabiliser and its ability to limit the effects of camera-shake is so handy. The HSM AF system also makes the user’s life easier, providing a fast and quiet form of autofocus, which is extremely suitable for the active subjects that the lens will be framing. As well as an excellent optical design, which provides excellent image quality as well as allowing the compact build which we have discussed, this lens is physically well-made, featuring a dust and splash-proof mount, as well as a water and oil repellent coating on the front element.
