The optical design uses both aspherical and low-dispersion elements, which improves sharpness and resolution. A VXD linear AF mechanism system is also included, which assures the lens focuses quickly and quiet enough for video use, as well as stills.

This standard zoom lens features a versatile focal length which is a perfect match for most of your everyday shooting. While designed for full-frame cameras, it can be used on APS-C format models, on which it will provide a more magnified field of view. Throughout performance, this Tamron zoom lens features a f2.8 maximum aperture, which is excellent for available light photography and depth of field control. The physical design of this lens has also been revamped, with the Tamron AF 28-75mm f2.8 Di III G2 lens featuring a notably ergonomic design. A connector port is also included on this lens, which allows users to update lens functions and settings and install new firmware on the lens.
