The Sigma AF 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN C lens is the smallest and lightest lens of its class at the time of release, so any user wanting to maintain their portability while adding a versatile standard zoom to their kit, will find no need to look elsewhere. As this lens weighs just 470 grams, it is possible to obtain a full-featured Mirrorless kit that can capture high-end photos and videos in very manageable package, when mounted on compatible Sony E-Mount cameras. The 28-70mm focal range of this lens is good for a bit of everything. At the wide end you have enough scope to frame the expanses of nature, while at the long end you can achieve a tighter crop of people photos and snapshots - this is one lens that you can trust to do most of your shooting, and do it very well.
The Sigma AF 28-70mm DG DN C lens features a bright f2.8 constant aperture. This means you can achieve shallow depths of field with this lens, as well as let in enough light for successful low-light shooting, at all focal lengths throughout the range. Being a member of Sigma's Contemporary range, this lens has been made to a high standard, both optically and physically. Optically, the lens features numerous high-end elements (2 FLD, 2 SLD, 3 aspherical), and coatings to assure image quality and sharpness are both exceptional at all focal lengths, while physically it is a wonder that such a compact and lightweight lens could be so sturdy - this Sigma lens will not be backing out of a photo shoot.
