At its core, the TT685IIS offers full Sony P-TTL compatibility, giving you automated exposure control and access to advanced features like high-speed sync up to 1/8000 seconds. The built-in 2.4 GHz X radio system lets you work wirelessly as a master or slave unit across 32 channels and up to five groups, with an effective range of 328 feet. You also get optical wireless triggering for flexibility with other standard flashes, plus a 2.5 mm sync port for traditional wired connections.

The flash head tilts from -7 to 120 degrees and rotates 330 degrees horizontally, giving you complete control over bounce angles and light direction. Its zoom range of 20-200 mm covers everything from wide-angle to telephoto work, while a guide number of 197 at ISO 100 ensures plenty of power for most shooting scenarios. Recycle times of 0.1-2.6 seconds keep up with your shooting pace, and four AA batteries (alkaline or NiMH) provide approximately 330 full-power flashes per charge.

One standout feature is the TCM (TTL Converted to Manual) function, which lets you instantly lock your current TTL exposure and convert to manual mode. This is invaluable for establishing consistent flash output across multiple off-camera units, saving time during setup and on set. You can also fine-tune exposure compensation from -3 to +3 EV in 1/3 EV steps, and adjust power from 1/1 to 1/128 in manual mode.
