It's been an exciting time for news on the Olympus front, with the brand recently announcing their flagship mirrorless offering, the EM1X. Now not long after we have this compatible lens, the Olympus 12-200mm WP Zoom. On the Micro Four Thirds format, this lens provides a 24-400mm equivalent zoom range, which takes the everyday zoom lens to lofty new heights. From landscapes to sports, this lens can frame it all, meaning you never have to worry about changing lenses and can readily go about your daily shooting, with a stripped down and simplified kit. When considering the amount of zoom it provides, this lens is astonishingly compact, while despite its portability, the lens is still tough, with a dust and splash-proof construction.
The new standard when considering all-rounder lenses for the Micro Four Thirds mount, is this Olympus 12-200mm lens. This lens provides a 24-400mm equivalent zoom range, which is all the reach you would want in your daily shooting. Exceptionally long at its maximum zoom, this lens can reach out across fields for an adequately tight crop, while the 24mm equivalent at the wide end is ideal for fitting all the details in for landscape shooting. Maximising on its usability, the Olympus 12-200mm zoom even provides a closest focus of 22cm at the wide end, so you can get in close and focus on the smaller details around you.
Fitting for an MFT compatible lens, the Olympus 12-200mm zoom is host to Olympus' Movie and Stills compatible autofocus, so you can experience just as much success when experimenting with your cameras high-resolution movie mode, as you will with its still shooting. Optically, the lens is reliable throughout, owing to a range of high-end optical elements in its construction, as well as Olympus' anti-reflective ZERO coating. Physically, the lens is not one to back out of a shoot at the first sign of a shower, thanks to its rugged dust and splash-proof construction.
