The 5x optical zoom range starts at a very handy 24mm for your landscapes and other wide needs, zooming into a telephoto 120mm for tightly-cropped portraiture and reaching across the playground to the kids. A bag of optical features ensures excellent performance, while the constant f4 aperture means the lens is a good option for low-light shooting and action.

The Nikon 24-120mm includes Nikon's fantastic silent wave motor, resulting in autofocus that as the name suggests is barely perceptible audibly. This makes it a very useful lens in the modern age, with most new DSLRs featuring video shooting. This focus motor is also fast, a necessary trait for both stills and video; this lens will quickly and easily lock your subjects into focus, so be ready to fire!

In keeping with its reputation as a take everywhere lens, the Nikon 24-120mm is excellent as a handheld low-light tool thanks to the constant f4 aperture and VR stabilisation.
