Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f2.8E ED VR - A high-performance, versatile workhorse lens
Nikon's legendary workhorse range has had a facelift in the form of this 24-70mm f2.8E VR. Designed for FX sensors but also fully functional on smaller DX-format cameras, this lens is a redesign on a classic focal range that has graced the front of many a camera due to its versatility and all-in-one nature.
New Aspherical Extra-Low Dispersion lens element
It isn't an easy job improving on an already excellent lens design that many photographers swear by. With the 24-70mm f2.8E VR Nikon has done just that thanks to a superior optical construction that includes a New Aspherical Extra-Low Dispersion element to go with the traditional Aspherical and ED elements that are also in the design, producing a level of imaging excellence far beyond expectations. Aberrations and imperfections such as flare are virtually non-existent in the images made with the 24-70mm, but sharpness and detail are there in spades.
Fast, bright f2.8 maximum aperture
The versatility that the 24-70mm focal length offers is enhanced by the fast f2.8 maximum aperture. Able to provide you with the ability to shoot at faster shutter speeds throughout the entire zoom range, this lens will have you shooting handheld in darker conditions without a thought to camera shake - a quality that is emphasised by the VR stabilisation which is rated at a stunning 4 stops.
As well as low-light performance the fast aperture rating is a great feature for producing excellent depth of field within your images. Now you can really explore those portraits with the dreamy out of focus areas that you have seen other photographers produce.
Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism
In another advancement the Nikon 24-70mm f2.8E VR lens features new technology in the form of an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism, which basically leads to improved aperture control and therefore exposure when using continuous shooting modes. Pair this with the speedy Silent Wave focus motor and this is no sluggish lens, equipped and ready to take on any action.
