Full-Frame EOS shooting, in a smaller package
Joining the other heavy hitters, Canon has dropped a bombshell with the release of this Full-Frame Mirrorless camera, the EOS R. Built around a 30.3MP Full-Frame CMOS sensor, this compact body delivers the image quality expected of high-performance DSLRs, in a smaller and lighter body. Canon's updated Digic 8 processor works together with the sensor, providing faster operation speeds and excellent image quality in the dimmest conditions, throughout the native ISO range of 100-40000 and beyond.
Always able to find focus, and in an impressively short time, the EOS R features Canon's much-lauded Dual Pixel CMOS, which combines with the cameras purely unbelievable 5655 available AF point positions to find a focal point in an instant. Not just notable for its speedy performance, this AF system can focus in incredibly low-light scenarios, down to -6EV. Once your focal point is found you can hold down the button and capture up to 8 frames per second in a burst, or 5 frames per second with continuous AF.

Despite being a compact interchangeable lens body, the EOS R stacks in plenty of usability, including a 3.2-inch Vari-Angle touchscreen, an OLED panel on the camera's top plate for quick settings at a glance, and a magnificent, bright 3.69-million dot EVF.
Announced alongside this new camera is a range of compatible lenses, which Canon claim will deliver unrivalled image quality. We await this with bated breath. For those of us that already know and love the existing EF and EF-S range of lenses, you will be pleased to find not 1, but 3 available adapters, to facilitate the use of your lenses with various levels of added functionality.
