With their excellent full-frame image quality and user-friendly performance, the Canon EOS R range has become a favourite amongst experienced photographers. Now, with a pair of APS-C format EOS R releases, Canon has expanded the system to appeal to a wider audience. Let's take a closer look at one of these models — the Canon EOS R7 — and see how it stacks up.
Getting to Know the Canon EOS R7

The key difference between the Canon EOS R7 and the full-frame EOS R models is the smaller APS-C format image sensor — which in this case packs a whopping 32.5MP of resolution. This format allows Canon to produce a more portable camera that's well suited to everyday photography and travel, while still delivering serious image quality.
The R7 is compatible with the full range of RF lenses, as well as the RF-S lens lineup designed specifically for APS-C sensors. Weighing just over 600 grams, it strikes a great balance between portability and handling — a pronounced grip makes for confident handheld use, and the dust and moisture-resistant build means it can handle life on the road.
Key Features
32.5MP Resolution — High enough to produce poster-sized prints with ease, and with plenty of room to crop into frames for stronger compositions without sacrificing image quality.
High-Resolution EVF & Vari-Angle Touchscreen — The R7 includes both an EVF for classic eye-level composing and a fully articulating touchscreen LCD for vlogging and low-angle shooting. Touch AF and intuitive menu navigation are included as standard.

30fps Continuous Shooting — Borrowed from the advanced EOS R3, the R7's 30fps electronic shutter burst rate makes it a capable choice for sports and wildlife photography.
Advanced Video Performance — 4K60p recording, Full HD 120p slow-motion, and 4K30p oversampled from 7K for exceptional sharpness. A dedicated video record button, unlimited recording times, clean 4K Micro-HDMI output, and both microphone and headphone ports round out a very capable video package.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II — Canon's lightning-fast autofocus system with subject tracking keeps your subjects sharp whether you're shooting stills or video.
Built-In Image Stabilisation — The R7 is Canon's only APS-C mirrorless camera with in-body IS. Paired with a stabilised RF lens, it delivers up to 8 stops of coordinated IS — sharp, blur-free results even in dim conditions without a tripod.

Dual SD Memory Card Slots — Manage your files your way — use the second card as overflow, as a backup, or to separate JPEG and RAW files.
