Today we are having a quick look over the wonderful Canon EOS M50 Mark II mirrorless camera. This model is extremely popular amongst beginners as well as enthusiasts, with particular interest coming from those looking for a camera for travel and vlogging. Let's find out why that is.

The Canon EOS M50 Mark II includes everything that has made Mirrorless cameras the tool of choice for photographers of all levels, from beginners to pros, in recent times. It is portable and lightweight, weighing in at a feather-weight 388 grams, while allowing you to access the power of the interchangeable lens EOS M system.

The 24MP image sensor of the M50 Mark II is APS-C sized, which is the same as the one found in many of Canon’s popular DSLR cameras, while it also includes Canon's high-performance DIGIC 8 image processor. This allows it to produce high-quality images in a range of lighting conditions, as well as 4K resolution videos. If you are coming from a smartphone or even a compact camera background you will be blown away with the image quality, particularly in dim scenarios or mixed lighting conditions, while as the camera is so compact, there is not a huge trade-off.

Often smaller and lighter Mirrorless cameras will have to sacrifice their viewfinder for such compactness, but this is not the case with the EOS M50 mark II. A high-resolution EVF can still be found at the rear of the camera, along with the tilting and touch-sensitive LCD screen - the latter option is best for selfies and video recording.

Those wanting to use this camera for vlogging purposes are further benefited by the inclusion of a microphone input, which allows users to easily attach an external microphone to harness higher audio quality. Other important additions for vloggers include a vertical video function and YouTube Live Streaming support.

The Canon EOS M50 Mark II features a fast and accurate 143-point AF system and Canon’s exceptional Dual Pixel AF technology, although it must be noted this feature is not available when filming 4K videos. This speedy autofocus performance includes high-speed tracking that can pinpoint eyes and make them the focal point; combine this with the camera’s blistering 10 frames per second continuous shooting rate and you are easily able to capture sharp and detailed images of fast-paced subjects, from wildlife and pets to kids and grandkids on the move.
