• Event Description

  Join Ted's Cameras and Sony Digital Imaging Advocate Joanne Stephan at Monster Skatepark, Sydney Olympic Park, for an unforgettable experience!

  This is more than just a workshop, it’s a creative jam session bringing the skateboarding and creative communities together. You’ll get exclusive access to capture photo and video content on top of the biggest vert ramp in the Southern Hemisphere while shooting some of Australia’s best skateboarders throwing down insane tricks on both the mini ramps and the massive 14.5ft vert.

  Learn how to harness natural light, track fast-moving athletes, and elevate your action photography and filmmaking while immersing yourself in the energy of the skate scene.

  Ted's Cameras is partnering with Sony Australia, and Monster Skatepark to make this epic event possible. Plus, there’ll be food, drinks, and plenty of good vibes to keep the stoke high all day.

  Whether you want to sharpen your video skills, capture that perfect trick, or just be part of something awesome, this is your chance. Grab your ticket, bring your camera, and let’s send it!

  Techniques Covered

  • Using the camera in manual mode - settings and exposure for video

  • Composing and pre-visualising your composition

  • Track moving subjects in auto mode

  • Understanding movement and how to capture the action “Skateboarding ticks” to tell a story

  • Hand held filming techniques

  What to bring:

  • Your DSLR or Mirrorless camera (all brands welcome!) Don't forget to charge your batteries and bring spares

  • Memory card so you can keep your photos at the end of the workshop

  • Any lens you have (wide/ zoom, we can make it work)

  • ND filter (if you have them)

  • Water bottle

  • Please bring weather appropriate clothing include a jacket and hats

  • Sunscreen

  • Comfortable shoes

  Competitions & Prizes:

  • Skaters’ Best Trick: prizes for 1st & 2nd place

  • Best Photo & Best Reel: open to all attendees who submit their work to Ted’s Cameras (submission details provided on the day of the event)

  • Social distancing measures are in place for all indoor workshops/experiences, and for outdoor workshops/experiences we strongly encourage social distancing where physically possible
  • There is strictly no sharing of demonstrational products - if you are allocated any demonstrational products to try, you must hand these back to your workshop trainer for cleaning before they can be given to another customer
