With its telephoto focal length and bright f1.4 aperture, this lens is destined to be favoured by shooters of portraiture, both in the studio and out in the field. Sigma has updated its HSM motor, with it now providing an even faster and smoother quality of autofocus, which will be welcomed by those shooting video. The fast f1.4 aperture and 9-blade rounded aperture diaphragm team up to produce a premium level of depth of field control, and bokeh of a dreamlike quality.

For those that relish the hands-on approach, full-time manual focus override allows you to simply take hold of the focus ring and make any minute adjustments that you deem necessary. With its bright f1.4 maximum aperture this lens allows for critical control over depth of field. You can throw much of your background into a complete blur, with this blur being soft and natural in appearance, thanks to the 9-blade rounded aperture diaphragm.
