The HSM AF system of this lens results in it focussing not just quickly but also quietly, so it can keep up with speedy subjects, but do so in a discrete manner, which is perfect for indoor sports or event photography.

This lens can be used on full-frame cameras, but you can also pair it with an APS-C sensor, on which it delivers a magnified equivalent of 112-320mm. A fixture of this lens is the fast f2.8 aperture which is available at all zoom lengths, delivering you a consistent level of depth of field control. This fast aperture is also of benefit to your low-light performance, with the Optical Stabiliser helping the lens along in this regard, providing up to 4 stops of protection from camera shake.
