If you have recently acquired your first Nikon DSLR, you have probably noticed that as good as the standard zoom lens is, it can't quite zoom out far enough to capture certain subjects. If you attempt any sports or wildlife photography, or you try to keep up with your kids as they run about, you will know the limitation of shorter lenses. This lens, the Nikon AF 70-300mm G zoom, is the simple, budget-friendly solution to this issue. The 70-300mm zoom range allows you to reach right out into the distance and get a decent frame around these far away subjects. On Compatible DX-format DSLRs, the equivalent zoom range is an even more magnified 105-450mm.
With its 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm, the Nikon AF 70-300mm G zoom lens is capable of producing very attractive bokeh, or out of focus areas. The Super Integrated coating which Nikon have applied to the lens does a good job or minimising ghosting and flare, which leads to greater colour accuracy and contrast levels. While the AF system is quick, it is worth noting that AF will not be supported on certain entry-level Nikon DSLRs, which themselves lack an AF motor. When mounted on these cameras, this lens must be focused manually.
