The X-T1 was a huge success for Fuji, proving that the market was still open to throwbacks to the compact SLR stylings of old if there was enough modern usability thrown in the mix as well. With the X-T2, Fuji retain the small, yet solid design, making a few updates along the way to keep the camera fresh and current. The image sensor is the 24MP X-Trans CMOS III variety, which has already been proven in the X-Pro 2, while the autofocus system of 325 points is considerably faster than earlier X-series offerings. One thing that Fuji does better than most is expertly placed buttons and dials, which is not overlooked in the weather-sealed X-T2. Anyone with the desire to change settings manually will get a thrill out of shooting with this mirrorless camera.

Like its predecessor the X-T1, the Fujifilm X-T2 features a classically inspired body, reminiscent of compact-sized SLR cameras from decades ago but performance wise it is a very modern beast. The body is small and easy to operate in the hands, yet this camera feels solid and sturdy, with weather-resistance a benefit for any outdoor lover. It is easy to look upon the X-T2 as a best of both worlds camera, a large 3-inch LCD screen that can tilt for tricky angles and selfies, a bright viewfinder for creating the most accurate and considered compositions, and modern performance paired with classic, manual photography suitable dials and buttons.
We’ve touched on some features that find the X-T2 on similar ground to cameras from yesteryear but what makes it stand out as thoroughly modern? For starters, there is that image quality, which stems from a 24.2MP X-Trans CMOS III sensor and X-Processor pro, both being already proven in their greatness in another Fuji Classic, the X-Pro 2. The AF system of 325 points and 8 frames per second continuous shooting go a long way to challenging DSLR cameras on their own turf, while 4K resolution video is available for the director in us all, along with other more advanced movie-making functionality.
