A premium, yet portable wide-angle zoom lens
Updating their popular wide-angle zoom offering, Tamron bring you their APS-C compatible 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD lens. The 35mm equivalent focal range of 16-37mm is familiar to photographers and is favoured for numerous applications including landscapes, travelling, interiors and group shots. As has been the beauty of previous lenses from Tamron, this lens not only provides an affordable alternative but one that can rival the major brands in terms of quality.
Usability has been a real area of improvement in this lens with a few important adjustments being made to lead a more pleasing user experience, as well as a boost in the quality of the results. First of, in a rarity for a lens of its type, the 10-24mm features a stabiliser, which Tamron calls Vibration Compensation. This feature finds the lens better suited to the low light conditions that can be found indoors and after sundown, by reducing the effects of camera-shake and allowing free and easy handheld shooting. Next up is a new and improved HLD focus motor, which finds an increase in speed and accuracy to help you attain pinpoint focus on your subject with minimal fuss.
With all of this added functionality you'd forgive Tamron if the lens was a little on the bulky side, but that just isn't the case with the 10-24mm. In fact, it is smaller and lighter than the previous version of this lens, allowing you to keep your DSLR kit as portable and travel-friendly as possible. Moisture resistant construction allows you to shoot outdoors in the elements, while a fluorine coating has been applied to the front lens element, which means dust, dirt, oil and similar nasties have minimal effects and can be wiped away easily.
