Versatility in the form of a zoom lens
With a 13.8x zoom range, this Sigma 18-250mm DC OS HSM Macro lens has the ability to replace several other lenses in your kit and it performs so well, you will struggle to see just what you are sacrificing for your gain. Starting at a wide 18mm, this lens is great for interior shots and for landscapes, where it can easily catch an entire mountain-side in one frame. When zoomed into 250mm it can be used on the sidelines at a sporting event or at a concert. The range in between will find you shooting everything from portraits to everyday snapshots, while a closest focussing distance of just 13.8 inches results in excellent close-up shots - this lens embodies versatility.
Stability in spades
With a lens of such magnification, you are probably going to need a tripod, right? Think again. The Sigma 18-250mm includes an excellent optical image stabiliser, which does an excellent job at reducing the effects of camera shake. Rated at 4-stops, this stabiliser allows you to shoot with confidence, even in low-light conditions or when shooting macros, where every bump is magnified. You may not want to sell your tripod just yet, but with the Sigma 18-250mm lens on your camera, you can feel comfortable leaving it at home for a day trip with the family.
A quality construction
Sigma have used TSC (thermally stable composite) materials when designing this lens, which results in a more compact and lightweight construction, without sacrificing any sturdiness. Although the Sigma 18-250mm is small enough to carry around all day long, it still feels substantial in your hand. Optically, Sigma have left nothing to chance, with an SLD element and three aspherical elements in the construction - consistent image quality is a given, as is the absence of any detriments, such as distortions and aberrations.
