With its bright f/1.4 aperture and sophisticated optical design, this lens is built for portraiture, low-light shooting, and any situation where shallow depth-of-field and beautiful bokeh matter.

The Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) minimises flare and ghosting whilst maximising light transmission, ensuring clean, vibrant images even in challenging lighting. The optical construction of 9 elements in 7 groups, including one aspherical lens element, delivers the sharpness and contrast professionals expect. Internal focusing means the lens maintains its compact size throughout the focusing range and stays protected from dust ingress.

Bokeh character is a key consideration for any fast prime, and the Samyang excels here. The 8-blade aperture design creates smooth, pleasing out-of-focus highlights when shooting wide open or stopped down slightly. On crop-sensor bodies (APS-C/DX), the 85mm delivers roughly 120mm equivalent focal length, making it ideal for tight head shots or working from a distance.

At a reasonable price point, this lens represents genuine value for photographers seeking a fast, professional-grade prime without compromising optical quality or build.

Bright f/1.4 maximum aperture for low-light and shallow depth-of-field work

Ultra Multi Coating reduces flare and ghosting

9-element, 7-group optical design with one aspherical lens

Internal focusing for compact size and dust protection

Minimum focus distance of 0.45m

72mm filter thread

Supplied with lens hood, front and rear caps, and soft carrying pouch
