One of a pair of Panasonic’s new releases into the full-frame mirrorless world, is this high-resolution Lumix S1R. Using the existing Leica SL-Mount, and announced alongside a range of high-quality lenses, you won’t find trouble creating a versatile new kit, and taking advantage of the full-frame 47MP sensor. While its sibling, the S1, is notable for being a multimedia friendly model, this S1R is best for capturing the most exceptional detail imaginable, with its previously mentioned sensor without a low-pass filter, and a high-performance Venus engine processor on its side.
Joining their competition in the bid to create professional-level mirrorless options, Panasonic has introduced two full-frame mirrorless cameras, this model being the Lumix S1R. Utilising the existing Leica SL-mount, you can use the previously released high-quality Leica optics with your new body, or purchase one of the new Lumix lenses which have been announced. Internally, the S1R features a full-frame 47MP CMOS sensor, which has been designed without a low-pass filter in order to maximise image sharpness and detail. This detail is extended right up to the top ISO of 25600, while those with sports aspirations will appreciate the camera’s top continuous shooting rate of 9 frames per second.
A tough, sturdy body, the Panasonic Lumix S1R is made of magnesium alloy, resulting in weather-resistant qualities, while its reliable shutter is rated to 400,000 cycles. As well as Panasonic’s speedy and accurate Depth from Defocus contrast-detect AF system, the S1R features built-in image stabilisation, with the possibility of Dual I.S with compatible lenses. On the ergonomic body of the S1R you will find a versatile double-hinged LCD screen for you to compose and playback your results, a top LCD panel for quickly checking your essential settings, and a high-resolution Electronic Viewfinder.
