SLR-like qualityin a very compact package; traditional intuitive manual controls; professional build quality

This little camera with its large (4-thirds) sensor and Leica 24-75mm (full-frame equiv.) lens, gives IQ close to that achievable by most APS-C SLRs, and probably better than some of them. The large sensor gives excellent high-ISO performance. Unlike most fixed-lens compacts, it has traditional manual controls for aperture (lens ring) and shutter speed (camera-top dial), which beats trawling through menu lists any day. It even has a manual dial on camera top for exposure compensation. It also has traditional lens threads for filter attachment (again unlike most compacts), and you can even use the Lee Seven5 filter system (albeit with a UV or protector filter mounted between lens and Lee adaptor ring). There is an excellent built-in EVF as well as the back-plate LCD. Battery life is somewhat reduced compared to the earlier LX3 to LX7 series of cameras, probably due to running two displays, so it pays to carry an extra battery. Highly recommended for IQ--critical photographers, particularly for any situation where camera size and weight are major factors.
