The new DJI SDR Tranmission Combo is a clever way to send wireless video to external displays using Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology that balances reliability and value. For the last few years, wireless video transmission systems have been strictly segmented into professional and consumer tiers. Pro options could get you latency-free video but cost thousands of dollars, while more budget-friendly options were often saddled with latency and a less stable feed. DJI is looking to bridge the gap with the DJI SDR Transmission system, using proprietary anti-interference SDR tech that should outperform similarly priced Wi-Fi based systems and be able to connect to a reportedly unlimited number of receivers.
When filming on small-to-medium-sized sets, everything you need for stable, high-quality video transmission is included in the DJI SDR Transmission Combo.
This complete system comprises an SDR transmitter for your camera rig and a receiver for an optional monitor or tablet. Using their proprietary SDR (Software Defined Radio) technology, the system sends footage at up to 1080p60 quality over three frequencies: DFS, 2.4 GHz, and 5.8 GHz. Combined with automatic frequency hopping, this signal is engineered for high penetration and long distances of up to 1.9 miles. When faced with crowded sets and dense architecture, this combo is a much more reliable option than some conventional consumer Wi-Fi solutions.
