DSLR-like power in a compact body
Arguably the most advanced Compact Digital Camera that Canon has ever released, this Powershot G1XIII bolsters some specifications that would be at home in the brands’ larger DSLR range, while the user-friendly compact form sized remains in tact. Image quality is simply stunning, thanks to the inclusion of an APS-C sized CMOS sensor with a resolution of 24.3mp, which retains its clear and detailed quality throughout the wide ISO range (100-25600) and when filming videos, which can be captured in Full HD 60p. In a move that has previously only been seen in DSLRs the G1XIII features Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus, fast and quiet so as to benefit still and video shooting, and covering a huge area of the focal plane so focus speeds are consistent no matter where in the frame your subject resides.
For framing your subjects Canon have included a familiar, tried and true lens, with a versatile 3x optical zoom range. This lens has a fast f2.8-5.6 aperture range to let in plenty of light and it also includes optical image stabilisation to counter the effects of camera shake on your pictures. For firing off multiple shots at moving subjects the G1XIII harnesses the Dual Pixel CMOS AF and allows for burst shooting of up to 7 frames per second, or 9 with AF fixed!
Seeing as this model is likely to wind up in the hands of enthusiasts and other serious shooters, it is a good thing the build quality of the G1XIII is particularly rugged. With dust and water resistance you can easily take this camera on the road and even off road with you, continuing to snap away undeterred by changes in the weather and environment. For framing your images in creative and unique ways you have the choice of either a bright and clear 2.36-milion dot organic LED viewfinder, or a 3-inch Vari-angle LCD screen, which can be angled to better accommodate self-portraits and other difficult angles.
