Fujifilm X-H2S Review

Are you wondering what makes the Fujifilm X-series range of mirrorless cameras so popular? With our review of the flagship Fujifilm X-H2S, we'll uncover the secrets behind these cameras and what makes this model the top of its class.

Getting to Know the Fujifilm X-H2S

The Fujifilm X-H2S features a 26.2MP X-Trans CMOS sensor paired with the brand new X-Processor 5 — delivering double the processing power of previous models. Fuji's X-Trans sensors are renowned for exceptional colour reproduction and low-noise performance that can go toe-to-toe with much larger full-frame sensors.

The X-H2S covers a broad ISO 80–51200 range with confidence, and its imaging power extends well beyond stills — 6K30p and 4K120p video recording are both available, making genuine 4K slow-motion a reality.

Key Features

Advanced Video — The X-H2S supports Apple ProRes 422 HQ recording, plus dedicated microphone and headphone ports for professional audio. A heat-dissipating body design enables longer recording sessions, and a separately available cooling fan extends this further.

40fps Continuous Shooting & Fast AF — The X-H2S shoots at up to 40fps, and can sustain 20fps RAW or 30fps JPEG bursts of over 1,000 images. Its 425-point AF system with AI subject detection tracks faces, eyes, animals, vehicles, and more — even in very dim conditions — keeping subjects sharp as they move across the frame.

5-Axis In-Body Image Stabilisation — Up to 7 stops of stabilisation means you can shoot handheld in low light, use longer focal lengths, or work at slower shutter speeds with confidence. Sharp, blur-free results without a tripod.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi — Remote camera control via smartphone app, plus instant wireless image transfer for fast sharing.

Film Simulations — Relive the glory days of film with Fujifilm's legendary simulation modes, including Astia, Velvia, and Classic Chrome. Each can be fine-tuned to match your creative vision — a feature both beginners and advanced users will love.

The X-H2S Body — Compact and travel-ready, yet packed with physical controls for advanced manual shooting. A top LCD screen provides a quick readout of key settings without needing to look at the rear screen. Dual memory card slots (1x SD, 1x CFexpress) handle the demands of high-speed burst shooting and high-resolution video. The magnesium alloy, dust and moisture-resistant build handles studio and outdoor use equally well, and the shutter mechanism is rated to 500,000 actuations for professional-grade reliability.
