Not the first of its kind but a very worthy model indeed, the Sony A7 Mark III takes the blueprint from its predecessors and makes some impressive tweaks, to bring you an update for the modern age. Most improved are the low-light performance and the speed, which have been made possible by the updated 24.2MP full-frame sensor and BIONZ X image processor. Dynamic range is excellent, as is the notable reduction in image noise, throughout the broad ISO range of 100-51200. UHD 4K video recording is possible, as is an advance continuous shooting rate of 10 frames per second, both of which are beneficiaries of the updated hybrid AF system; one of 693 and 425 contrast and phase-detection AF points respectively.

The built-in 5-axis SteadyShot stabiliser on board the A7 Mark III is of benefit to still and video shooting, greatly reducing the effects of camera shake to leave you with sharp and blur-free results. As with previous offerings within the range, the A7 Mark III is such a success due to its compact nature and high performance, with this portable body featuring dust and moisture resistance, allowing you to use it to its full potential anywhere in the world. Somehow, crammed into this camera is a 3-inch LCD screen, which features touch sensitivity for improved functionality, and a high-resolution OLED EVF, for eye-level framing.
