It is no easy task, following up such a successful release, as the original E-M5 was, but Olympus have put a lot into the success of the E-M5 Mark II. Retained from the original, is the compact and portable stature, enticing DSLR users to cross over to the mirrorless system, and leave behind the bulk of their previous kit. New is an excellent 40MP multi-shot mode, and Full HD 60p video capture, which comes with a few important video friendly additions, such as an uncompressed HDMI output and a Mic input. The 16MP Live MOS sensor still assures premium imaging results, while 5-axis IS is onboard to keep things blur-free and sharp.

The same as its predecessor, this Olympus E-M5 Mark II is a remarkable release, combining user-friendliness, portability, and exceptional image quality. With an improved Full HD 1080p 60p video recording mode, as well as various other video-friendly updates, the Mark II is more suited to all-around multimedia performance than the original model, which is in keeping with the direction that the modern world is heading. The Micro Four Thirds 16MP Live MOS sensor is capable of excellent results in all lighting conditions, while the continuous shooting rate has been slightly improved, now allowing 10 frames per second bursts.
With its 5-axis built-in image stabilisation, the Olympus E-M5 Mark II is capable of being shot handheld for the majority of its performance, which is great news, as this portable body feels so nice in the hand. To the benefit of the travelling shooter, the camera manages to be both portable and strong, with weather-sealing allowing you to take it shooting in more unpredictable climates. To make the most of the new functions of the camera, the E-M5 Mark II is benefitted from a speedy AF system, which has been previously seen in the high-end E-M1, utilising a total of 81 AF points. Truly an enthusiast’s tool, the Mark II features two options for composing your images, an EVF and a tilting touchscreen, multiple buttons and dials for setting changes, and built-in WiFi connectivity for an enhanced shooting experience.
