For full-featured flash performance, without shelling out a fortune, or adding heaps of bulk to your kit, consider this Nikon SB 700 Speedlight. The guide number of 28m and recycle times as quick as 2.5 seconds mean you have plenty of power at your disposal and not much time waiting for it to fire, while the versatile bounce head will have you directing the light like a master. The SB 700 features multiple advanced modes, such as stroboscopic flash mode, slow, high-speed, and first or second curtain flash sync, but it can also be simply added to your hot shoe and set to auto, for easy, high-quality flash enhanced images.

The perfect mid-range flash to add to your Nikon kit, the SB 700 speedlight finds the middle ground between the basic point-and-shoot models and the bulkier offerings that the professionals carry around with them. The guide number of 28m is perfect for most of your flash needs, while a host of advanced flash functions are available if you are looking to drastically enhance your portfolio. The SB 700 features a bounce head that tilts both up and down (90 degrees and 7 degrees), and left and right (180 degrees both ways), so you can expertly direct your light to create images of a soft and natural appearance. On FX format cameras, the SB 700 covers an equivalent zoom range of 24-120mm, which can be extended to a wider 12mm with the built-in diffusion panel.
You won’t have to risk going without your SB 700 flash unit when you are travelling abroad, as it runs on readily available AA batteries. With recycle times as quick as 2.5 seconds, you can continue firing shots not long after the last flash burst, which prevents your subject from escaping your frame as you wait for everything to work again. The rear LCD panel keeps you up to date with all important information, so the more advanced shooter can use the rotating dial to swiftly find their desired setting. The rest of us, however, can simply add the SB 700 to the hot shoe of our camera and start shooting. It’s that easy and the results are that good.
