The Olympus Pen EPM1is a good looking small camera which produces excellent quality images without the bulk of an SLR. As with most digital cameras it takes practice to fully understand and utilise all its many features but this comes with time and practice. Unfortunately only the basic version of the manual is supplied in hard copy. The full manual is provided on CD. I guess I'll print it out some day. The lithium ion battery has a long life but its expensive at $90 or more so I have not bought a spare yet. Finding a suitable carry bag or case is not easy either. Bag makers do not seem to be designing for this style of camera yet. The smallest bag in the Crumpler range eventually filled the bill.

This camera provides its user with a tool to create intriguing art or simply snap a memorable shot. It can be used by both beginners and the experienced photographer however I believe a keen photographer (or learner) is best suited as they will have the ability to maximise the functions and specifications. A big bonus is the range of add-ons available such as lenses and a lot more.

I picked this up to live in my handbag instead of a phone camera. Image quality is excellent, tonal range great. Its very easy to use so long as you stay in auto mode but trying to use the many other modes can be slow and hard to read from the screen when outdoors. Also you need to have both hands available to unlock and lock the lens so don't expect to grab fast shots one handed. Trouble is, now I want some more lenses.......
