The Nikon D5200 Digital SLR camera takes everything you love about the D5100 and adds some fantastic internal features. The D5200 retains the same build structure of the D5100; relatively small and light with a flip-out screen, comfortable grip and easy-to-use buttons. Where it differs is on the inside; the Nikon 5200D has a newly designed 24 Megapixel DX sensor with up to 25600 ISO, as well as 39 Auto Focus points. This means better low light shooting, sharper images and faster, more accurate focusing. The new sensor also allows for more flexible video shooting options, letting you take more control of your masterpieces.

Excellent first DSLR camera for beginners
, Sydney, 22/02/2014

I researched many DSLR cameras as I looked to buy my first. Once you decide on a Nikon (vs canon) then for value for money I couldn't go past the D5200. Flip screen is excellent, good quality images, large range of lenses, solid build yet compact and the fun is in learning all the features. I love the results, the camera and opportunities it provides. My tip is do your research, ask questions and once you pick your budget stick to it...with lenses and accessories you can go over very easily.

Pros: Easy to use, Compact, Build quality, Battery life, Screen size

Great first camera!
, mornington peninsula, 20/02/2014

My first camera! absolutely fantastic. Takes great photos, easy to use. Don't waste your money on the cheaper 'beginner' d3200. You gain a higher quality photos, lose the built in guide but it is replaced with extra photo effects which are fantastic. Everything you need to learn is online anyway! battery life is a little low but extras don't cost much anyway.

Pros: Easy to use, Compact, Build quality, Screen size
Cons: Battery life

Great camera, hard to find a fault!
, Sydney, 26/12/2013

My first DSLR and very pleased, not a great reputation but its lived up to all my expectations! Great image quality, easy to get a handle on and great for both first time users and those who want great photos from a cheaper camera. I also bought the 18-105mm lens and this has been great as I have not needed any other lenses for general shooting. Little things like the flip out screen, ISO button and great user interface have made the camera just that little bit better. Only cons are that as I cannot install the program ViewNX as my laptop is a few years old and no longer compatible, it makes viewing and transferring photos very difficult, I have to put the SD into an old compact camera for this. But if i can put up with that I would say this camera is close to perfect, highly reccomended!!

Very happy with the D5200. Having the ability to review or take photos using the flip out screen is great! Would recommend this camera for general use & for first timers too.
Teds Cameras have always looked after us well too. Pity there isn't a store in Rockhampton!

The D5200 has everything I have ever wanted in a digital SLR. Photo quality is outstanding.
, Canberra, 12/09/2013

This is my first Digital SLR camera. When researching which camera to purchase, budget was certainly important, value for money and functionality as well as quality. The Nikon D5200 was for me the ideal camera. As an aspiring photographer who has long desired a quality camera and having to settle for compact point and shoot cameras, I knew that I would also need a camera that I could get great shots using the auto function whilst I was learning how to fully utilise the functions of my new camera. The reason I have checked Easy to use under 'Pros' and also Complicated under 'Cons' is that if you set the camera to Auto or just use the Scene option and select your shooting conditions (of which there is an option for everything from Candle Light Dinners to Pet Portraits), then it is a piece of cake to use. If you have time and a particular item you want to photograph, then using the finer settings and getting your image perfect requires reading the manual and if you aren't a professional photographer learning on the run!
The deal I got with the 18-55 lens and the 55-300 lens was great. Teds staff were very helpful, patient and knowledgeable. I never once felt that I was wasting their time or that my lack of camera knowledge was an issue.

So to sum up, Nikon D5200 - Awesome.
Photo quality - Outstanding.
Teds - Great Staff, Great Deal.
Me - Happy as a man with a new fancy camera can be!!

Sincerely,
Graham.

Very happy with the camera
, South Melbourne, 20/06/2013

Getting to know the functions but have not used it much, going on holidays soon will give it a good test then.
Battery does not last very long will see how it goes while we are away, may have to get another battery to do the change over when it is low.
