The F1.8 lens is a perfect match for the Back-illuminated CMOS Sensor. You’ll be able to record in low light environments with confidence. Record indoors or outside in darker situations with brilliant results. Record birthdays, weddings, sporting events and everyday life without the need for additional lighting. 

When recording in HD, you get up to 40x optical zoom - the industry's highest level. When recording in Standard Definition, the Dynamic Zoom function uses nearly all of the effective pixels of the CMOS to achieve up to 70x magnification without any degradation of picture quality.  

Time-Lapse REC records one frame at a time at set intervals (1sec.–80sec.). So you can watch movement that's hours long in just a few seconds when played back. It's great when you want to observe an event that takes place over a long period of time or to record unique-looking scenes in a creative way.  

When a subject enters the detecting area and the luminance changes, recording starts automatically. Recording continues as long as there is movement within the area and automatically stops after 5 seconds of no movement. You can use it like a surveillance camera or to observe something. Discover new ways to use the camera.  

Wherever you point the camera, it instantaneously analyzes faces, brightness, color and distance, to automatically select the best settings for the scene. Brightness, sharpness, chroma and gamma values, and more, are all continuously optimized. Get the best possible shot, anytime!  

Camera-shake compensation is another important feature of a video camera. Our Advanced Image Stabilizer (A.I.S.) expands the effective area at wide angle, delivering powerful compensation for camera shake. Now, you can enjoy stable results even if you're trotting alongside your subject.  

Record in AVCHD Lite if you want to watch the results on an HDTV or burn videos to a Blu-ray disc or DVD. In addition you can record in Standard Definition to edit 720 x 480 resolution videos for longer recording times, burn to standard DVD and share with people who haven't upgraded to HDTV yet. Remember HD for higher quality recordings or SD for broad compatibility and longer recording time the choice is yours. Video Format Features:
