Fuji Finepix HS20

I purchased the HS20 only a few days before boarding a tall ship. Learning to use a new camera while standing on a rolling deck proved easier than I expected. I was very impressed by the levelling indicator, saved may snaps from looking like the ship was sailing up hill. The ability to add a UV filter protected the lens from the salt spray. Great snapshots and movies, very functional manual zoom saves batteries. Built in easy to use features are easy to operate via the viewfinder or well lit tiltable display.

Love the screen size. So far not very complicated to use. Not to many options where you cannot go wrong.

Not as compact as a little happy snap camera, but has all the functions of an SLR. For those wanting a little more than the standard holiday snap, this camera does just that. Panorama function is exceptional and the zoom is excellent.

Very Happy with the quality of the image. Need more instruction so went into Teds in Adelaide and was very happy with the help I got. Happy with the build, The batteries that were in it when I brought it did not last as long as I expeted. Yes it is value for money. It would be good to have a cheap course on how to run it when brought.

With the 24-720 mm lens you are always prepared to take the picture you want. Very good image quality. Up to ISO 400 noise is hardly detectable, from 800 it starts becoming a problem.

Since I have bought my Fuji film Finepix HS20 I have had nothing but satisfaction with the overall style and use of this very worthy camera. Not only have I found it well priced for its capable functions but I have also found that its ease of use very comforting for my slower minded brain. This is a must buy for those thinking of getting a DSLR but don't want to have to continually change lenses.

Like it's predecessor, the HS10, here is a camera that requires some input from yourself. It is NOT just a P&S. Sure, place it in Auto mode and job done. After all it has 30x zoom and 16M! Indeed it does, and if one wants the best from this camera, then it pays to LEARN how to really get the best from it. Whilst it may have 16M, you will get great results from one of the PASM modes or EXR modes with the unit set to 8M.
The batteries last for some time (Sanyo Eneloops HIGHLY recommended) and like the HS10, the 30x zoom is brilliant. I also quickly became used to the reticulated screen. Very nice. When all is said and done it is worth playing with your settings and once you've got the hang of this beastie, you will obtain some fab shots. I love it!
