Canon Ixus 1000 HS

an excellent little camera

Simple to use, the camera has great picture qaulity, it is light and not bulky at all. The staff at Teds in Knox were extremeley helpful and not pushy for a sale.

Excellent little camera with heaps of extras. Had a footy training day last Sunday and the camera took some awesome shots. Heading overseas soon so looking forward to capturing my holiday in style. Thanks Ted's for recommending this camera.

The auto focus is great, and I love being able to take good quality pictures at night. However, it does sometimes take a while to actually take the picture, which can be annoying.
I love the software that comes with it, as it is very easy to download images and videos to a computer, and it even puts them in dated folders for you!

This camera is fantastic apart from being pink (or plain for those who want it) it is an easy to use compact camera. The zoom is so much more than expected allowing better shots from a distance and the picture quality is great. After being used to my DSLR but wanting a compact for travelling i was amazed. i expected a lot less of it and the canon exceeded any expectations for a compact. Easy to use and shoots video, easy to download photos to computer. I highly recommend this for anyone who is after a small but good quality camera.

I've used this camera nearly everyday since I bought it, and I simply love it. The high optical zoom is an advantage, plus large screen and structured menu (you always get it from Canon). With a very reasonable price, the quality of the camera and the features are higher than your expectations. Although, the body color ranges are apparently limited to a few colors, which might be a bit ummm, but I'm starting to love my silver little baby camera.

Canon is one of those brands that you won't get disappointed during time, cause their products are so durable and reliable. My brother had a Powershot A610 for quite a few years, no issues, thousands of quality memorable images, many times felt on a solid floor (kidding? no drama!) and he's still using/loving it.

I definitely recommend this little baby camera to anyone who wants a compact camera with high optical zoom and a big value for the money.

Gets Really close up with the 10x optical zoom, a bit bulkier than I would have liked, but great quality, and you can't find a better deal.

I bought this one for shooting home videos, the quality is ok although sometimes there is a bit color shift (white balance issue), not very often. I noticied it's getting quite warm after shooting videos for even one minute. and the battery only last around 20 mins. I suppose it sucks a lot of power when processing those Full HDs. I'm not mainly using it for photos, so couldn't tell how long the battery will last for photos; I did test a dozen of photos, the image quality is alright (of course not as good as even a entry dslr). I would recommend this for video shooting.

this is probably the 5th canon camera that i have brought from ted's camera shop. but the canon ixus 1000 camera has a very, very, very, very, very poor battery life. took about 100 shots and the battery died. I took the camera to disneyland on our holidays in january, 2012 and very disappointed with the battery life. luckily, i had a nikon slr camera as well (which i bought from teds). i am interested in the new lighter cameras but would not buy from teds again. you did not tell me about the poor battery life. i would have bought another camera intead of this one. so i gave it to my daughter, as i did not want such a camera with poor battery life.

Very happy with the camera, easy to use, light to carry around and takes magnificent photos without the fuss or complicated technical stuff.

Even with the many features on the camera; i was able to pick it up and take lots of great photos with ease as the menu structure was simple and easy to navigate. The camera is fractionally larger a compact camera though this is likely due to the larger lense. It has a solid feel and takes great shots. I would recommend this camera as a general use family camera.

Kewl camera, photo's are good and design awesome. Friends luv it.

Can't take quick shots as often turn out fuzzy which can be frustrating as then you have missed the shot. But very easy to use and good in sunlight. It seems durable but battery runs out if you are taking a lot of photos (ie going on a trip and constantly snapping) and so may have to charge it every night...
